If my requests aren't serialized via a request writer then why does my
embedded solr crash when i comment out the following line in my
solrconfig:
  <requestHandler name="/update" class="solr.XmlUpdateRequestHandler" />

it crashes with the exception that it can't with the /update URL. (I
left in the javabin request handler).
