Subject [lucy-issues] [jira] [Commented] (CLOWNFISH-60) Use system lemon if possible
Date Fri, 18 Sep 2015 14:51:04 GMT

Nick Wellnhofer commented on CLOWNFISH-60:

bq. The benefit of not bundling is you don't have to care about the bundled code. The issue
is that those who bundle usually don't care, so the result is myriad of broken code at different
versions behaving differently bundled everywhere. This is unmaintainable.

Why would anyone care which version of lemon is bundled with the Lucy source code? We only
use lemon in our build process and make sure that the version we bundle works for our needs.
This results in a bit of maintenance burden, but there's no other way to support out-of-the-box
builds on platforms like Windows or for automated testing.

> Clownfish-CFC-0.4.2 bundles lemon. Attached patch allows to use system lemon instead
of the bundled one.
