I don't really see why it's necessary to justify it.  This is an open source project.

However, if you are interested...  It is hard to use snapshot versions unless you have some
knowledge of the source code (the documentation is rarely ahead of the source code).  If I
have problems and there is no source code I usually give up.  If there is source code I use
it to try and understand what the tool is trying to do.  Often I find bugs.  I even fix them
sometimes.  Surely this is motherhood and apple pie?
