Subject [jira] Created: (MNG-4827) warnings at the start of the build are easily missed

warnings at the start of the build are easily missed
----------------------------------------------------

                 Key: MNG-4827
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MNG-4827
             Project: Maven 2 & 3
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Logging
    Affects Versions: 3.0-beta-3
            Reporter: Brett Porter

I regularly forget that there are a bunch of warnings at the start of the build still to fix.

It would be helpful if there were a strict mode I could enable that turned these warnings
into failures. This mode should be off by default, but able to be turned on by default (through
a property that can be set somewhere permanent like MAVEN_OPTS or a parent project, or by
an enforcer rule that can re-check them?)

If that's not desired (or not enabled), an alternative might be to repeat the number of warnings
at the end, and refer the user to the build output.
