@paul I think you misunderstand. I want a deterministic reference to the root of a multi-module
build so that information that pertains to the whole build could be stored in a known location
which is the root of the multi-module build. Has nothing to do with the local repository and
${basedir} refers to the basedir of a given project, not the build as a whole.
