Subject [jira] [Commented] (MNG-6981) Add --recursive option
Date Tue, 08 Sep 2020 06:57:00 GMT

Knut Wannheden commented on MNG-6981:

I would be curious at how I can get the same results with the current Maven tool. Assume I
have a reactor as follows:

- root
-- m1
--- m1-1
--- m1-2
-- m2

I would now like to build {{m1}} including descendants and {{m2}}. AFAIK I can only achieve
this by using {{-pl :m1,:m1-1,:m1-2,:m2}} when running {{mvn}} against the {{root}} project
or invoking Maven twice (as in {{mvn -f m1 && mvn -f m2}}).

> Since there is already a {{\--non-recursive}} option a new {{\--recursive}} option might
be confusing, but let me explain my use case. I often use the {{-pl}} option and in a multi-module
Maven project with more than just two "levels", I would like to be able to build a project
(or set of projects) including all child-modules. This is, AFAIK, currently not possible and
what I would like to use the new {{\--recursive}} (or similar) option for.
