To answer your question in the mailing list,

1. Yes, you did very nice.
2. Yes, you have to synchronize filterWrite method.

To sum up, you did it nicely!  Why don't you attach your code here?  MINA 0.8 is a stable
release so we won't include it into the official distribution, but we will definitely include
it in MINA 1.0.
