I'm !sure the excluded dependencies you mentioned in ivy are the problematic ones in maven
(at least telling from their names). If you know they are transitive dependencies, then how
about simply using log4j:1.2.14? That doesn't have the problematic dependencies on jmxtools,
and I suspect there's no API change or feature nutch depends on in the latest log4j (BTW I'm
!sure why people (still) use log4j).

I agree w you on !adding a snapshot depenency.
