This spellcheck failure was most likely due to the incorrect language being specified in the
downloaded document - for example one of the variants of English other than your OpenOffice
had selected.  If it happens again, note the language specified in the Status Bar (at screen
bottom).  If this does not match your installed language, use /Tools /Language /For all text
to change the document language variant to that you normally use.  This will most probably
sort out the problem without need to reinstall OpenOffice.
