In HBase's CoprocessorHost, there is the following code:

    public HTableInterface getTable(TableName tableName, ExecutorService pool) throws IOException

      return new HTableWrapper(tableName, CoprocessorHConnection.getConnectionForEnvironment(this),
          pool);
    }

Which uses a CoprocessorHConnection to get a 'backdoor' connection to the region if it is
present on the local server. It avoids serializing/deserializing the data and writes directly
to the region. I'm not sure why you need to do any of these changes at all.
