Thanks for starting this work.

I see you were having issues with antrun to leverage our existing ant system. What were the
problems you were facing?  

Also as I wrote the velocity template work for the logging I'm happy to take a look at sorting
that integration with maven.

approved, we could eventually move over to Maven completely and ditch the Ant build files
entirely.
