This breaks the build for me (Fedora 18, cmake 2.8.9) with the following 
error (the colon separated libs was the reason I put in the extra 
processing in the first place):

> make[2]: *** [src/libqpidcommon.so.2.0.0] Error 1
> make[1]: *** [src/CMakeFiles/qpidcommon.dir/all] Error 2
> make: *** [all] Error 2

It also appears to break the build for RHEL6 and windows though in 
different ways.
