Thanks Gordon. That makes sense.

But when I used PLAIN in the qpidd.conf in /etc/qpid/sasl/qpidd.conf the
mechanism list shows up empty.
pwcheck_method: auxprop 
auxprop_plugin: sasldb 
sasldb_path: /usr/lib/sasl2/qpidd.sasldb
mech_list: PLAIN


Here is the output:
