Subject [jira] [Created] (QPID-6746) Default direct memory settings in Java Broker's start scripts
Date Mon, 21 Sep 2015 16:05:04 GMT
Keith Wall created QPID-6746:
--------------------------------

Summary: Default direct memory settings in Java Broker's start scripts
                 Key: QPID-6746
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-6746
             Project: Qpid
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Java Broker
            Reporter: Keith Wall
             Fix For: qpid-java-6.0

The Java Broker now uses direct memory for message payload/header storage, rather than heap
as was the case in previous releases.

We want to keep the Java Broker's footprint to roughly 2GB (ignoring the overhead of the JVM
itself), so we need to change the scripts to default both heap (-Xmx512m) and direct memory
(-XX:MaxDirectMemorySize).
