Subject [jira] [Closed] (ROL-706) Uploaded-file resources into database

Glen Mazza closed ROL-706.
--------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix

Request is from 2005. It's too difficult (and inefficient) to store BLOB info in a database
platform-independent manner for all the databases Roller supports, and not enough need to
make it worth the effort. There are other ways to support clustering while still keeping
images and other media files on a network drive.

> Key: ROL-706
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ROL-706
> Project: Apache Roller
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Components: Database Access & Data Model

> Priority: Minor
>
> Database storage of uploaded-file resources. I am requesting this change because database
storage is preferred for one of our customizations.
> Currently uploaded-file resources are stored inside the Roller context.
> Database storage of uploaded-file resources offer additional advantages per a post by
Dave Johnson:
> 1) support packaging Roller as a war file.
> 2) help to make load-balancing possible because they ensure that resources are available
on all Roller instances.
> (See Dave's post on Roller-development list, 4/7/2005 7:31 AM)
> fyi ... I view this issue as supporting, though not duplicating the following two open
issues:
> ROL-95 Deploy as WAR
> ROL-94 Support JBoss
