Here's a new version of the patch with some minor changes:
- Moves the HdfsTestUtil from sentry-tests-solr to sentry-binding-solr so we don't have to
repeat a lot of that code in two places
- Changes some comments

Assuming the tests pass, I'm okay with checking this in after someone who knows the Hive code
better, like [~prasadm] signs off on the compatibility change.
