Subject [jira] [Commented] (SQOOP-1706) Add API doc for the IDF interface and Schema -> ColumnTypes
Date Wed, 10 Dec 2014 19:07:14 GMT

Veena Basavaraj commented on SQOOP-1706:

Ai should also mention another reason I think having designs in wiki makes sense .

A doc fix was not considered important for a release.

Here we have a broken doc in http://sqoop.apache.org/docs/1.99.4/Sqoop5MinutesDemo.html for
1.99.4 and I'd rather would have just edited the wiki to fix this rather than lobby to get
this patch in a RC for a release.

> Since there can be multiple implementation of the IDF and connectors can chose to use
a their specific implementation for IDF, document this as a PUBLIC apis
> Schema is part of the IDF interface and it is important to explain the different column
types we support and how in one of the implementations we has certain assumptions for parsing
from string to obejct
