Subject [jira] Commented: (SHALE-133) [Shale] "Extend shale-test-framework to support rendering JSF pages outside a container"

Craig,

Yes, that's the scenario I was talking about. Functional testing would be easier to accomplish
for the general case but it's really not the same as being able to mock things out selectively
and run view rendering tests as a matter of a couple of minutes (all sources need to be compiled,
of course, but the actual tests should run blazing fast). There are some things that are next
to impossible to simulate when you're deploying to a real container with a real database and
so forth. I do realize the potential cost of making the whole JSP/JSF engine accessible for
in-memory integration tests and exposing hooks for substituting custom tag implementations
etc. I was just hoping that since you already have some kind of mock object implementations
for certain JSF interfaces, it might be "doable".

> It would be nice to be able to render JSF pages along with standard and custom
> components in similar manner to what JspTest (http://jsptest.sf.net) provides
> for regular JSPs.
