Stefaan Dutry commented on WW-4395:
-----------------------------------

would it be an option to use [org.apache.commons.validator.routines.EmailValidator|https://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-validator/apidocs/org/apache/commons/validator/routines/EmailValidator.html]
from {{commons-validator}} instead?

> This is the regex for email validation in Struts:
> {noformat}
> \\b^['_a-z0-9-\\+]+(\\.['_a-z0-9-\\+]+)*@[a-z0-9-]+(\\.[a-z0-9-]+)\*
> \.([a-z]{2}|aero|arpa|asia|biz|com|coop|edu|gov|info|int|jobs|mil|mobi|
> museum|name|nato|net|org|pro|tel|travel|xxx)$\\b
> {noformat}
> This doesn't allow special characters (e.g. àéí, äëö,...).
> However, International characters above U+007F are permitted by [RFC 6531|http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6531]
> Because some mail servers seem to follow this standard, regex should be improved to allow
email addresses valid according to this standard.
