Thank you.  Turns out I was using the right taglib (bean:write) but bad
syntax.

The form bean has a name in the request equal to its name in the
struts-config file <form-bean> element.

You can access attributes with <bean:write> like so:

<bean:write name="PropertyMainForm" property="description"/>
