I try to learn everything in a "bare-bones" environment, so I'm not 
handicapped when I don't have my precious IDE.  I love vim, but for 
things like refactoring, eclipse helps me tremendously.  <dreamy 
voice>If only there were vim key bindings for eclipse... </dreamy voice>
