Besides the 3-8 thing there (which I suppose is a typo), String
comparison with == works well for me:

    <field-validator type="fieldexpression">
      <param name="expression"><![CDATA[newPassword ==
verifNewPassword]]></param>
      <message>Password must be the same</message>
    </field-validator>
