Please add a default:
  <switch ..>
    <pattern ../>*
    <default>
       <mediatorx/>
    </default>
  </switch>

(Optional, of course.)

To me the idea of combining two pattern languages (regex and xpath) in
one thing is bad. Why can't switch/@type be switch/@pattern and be of
xpath type?
