Apologies, you're right, I should have been more clear.  Here's the actual build error:

[INFO] Compilation failure

package javax.activation does not exist

package org.apache.commons.codec.binary does not exist

The first might not show up for you if you're building using a J2EE distribution (I'm on a
Mac, no J2EE distro for me).  The second is caused by an ancient version of commons-codec
(1.2) being pulled in transitively; the binary package that's being referred to wasn't added
until 1.3.
