Depends on how you do it. Spam-like is bad, but
an occasional (one or two a month) "Check out the latest" message with a
link to your blog would be ok by me.

As for the tapestry homepage, you might want to bounce that off the
jakarta/pmc/member list (whichever) since I don't think its in our perview
to make these kind of changes in isolation.
