Subject [jira] [Commented] (TIKA-1435) Update rome dependency to 1.5

Johannes Mockenhaupt commented on TIKA-1435:
--------------------------------------------

This change broke _org.apache.tika.parser.hdf.HDFParserTest#testParseGlobalMetadata_.
I managed to miss this as I skipped some tests as I was getting some unrelated OSGi test failures
prior to any changes on my end - or at least I thought so.
Rome 1.0 -> 1.5 upgraded its _org.jdom_ dependency from 1.x to 2.x. The 2.x version uses
the namespace _org.jdom2_ instead of _org.jdom_.
This makes the test fail with a NoClassDefFound exception (see below).
The code failing is in netcdf-4.2.20, which declares a dependency on _org.jdom/jdom_ with
scope _provided_ and no version declaration.
Looking at netcdf-4.3.22, it declares a dependency on _org.jdom/jdom2_ (notice the 2 in the
artifactId). So upgrading netcdf too would mean jdom in version 2.x would be included twice?
Excluding _org.jdom/jdom_ from the rome dependency would satisfy both, since they both would
use the _org.jdom2_ namespace ...
I'll have to take another look at this, when I have some more time. Not that I wouldn't appreciate
help from someone more experienced in this, as I usually just use maven to fetch dependencies
:-)

> Rome 1.5 has been released to Sonatype (https://github.com/rometools/rome/issues/183).
Though the website (http://rometools.github.io/rome/) is blissfully ignorant of that. The
update is mostly maintenance, adopting slf4j and generics as well as moving the namespace
from _com.sun.syndication_ to _com.rometools_. PR upcoming.
