Please do the following when you get the hang to produce some
diagnositic info:

Press ctrl-break to generate a Java Dump

Look in the Java Dump for the section labeled: 
    LOCKS subcomponent dump routine

See if you see anything like
    Deadlock detected !!!
    ---------------------

If so, please post the relevant info :-) .
