Jens Grivolla commented on UIMA-2121:

The thing is that jOpt quite easily gives functionality like the following:

$ java -jar PearInstallCLI.jar -?

Option                                  Description
------                                  -----------
-?, -h                                  show help
-c, --check, --verify                   do verification
-d, --dir <File: directory (default: installation directory
  use PEAR name)>
-f, --file <File: filename>             PEAR file
-v, --verbose                           be more verbose

Reproducing all this manually would probably make the program several times bigger. While
I agree that having an external dependency only to parse three command line arguments (-v
isn't actually used currently, and -h doesn't count) is overkill, I probably won't have time
in the next few weeks to rewrite it.

> There should be a way to install PEARs without having to use the GUI PearInstaller.
This is especially important when installing all needed PEARs for a project, or doing a clean
