Subject [jira] [Created] (UIMA-3003) TestOptimizedStrings fails on some Javas
Date Mon, 17 Jun 2013 14:17:20 GMT
Marshall Schor created UIMA-3003:

Summary: TestOptimizedStrings fails on some Javas
                 Key: UIMA-3003
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/UIMA-3003
             Project: UIMA
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Core Java Framework
            Reporter: Marshall Schor
            Assignee: Marshall Schor
             Fix For: 2.4.1SDK

The tests for Optimized strings check on how multiple strings can be packed into one shared
char[]. To do some of the tests, it needs to check the offset of the String chars in the
shared array, which is not available, normally. To do this it uses reflection of the "offset"
field of the String implementation. IF the String implementation for a particular Java doesn't
have this field, the test fails. Change this to make the test continue with a warning message
to the error output stream that part of the test is being skipped.
