hmm ... interesting that you didn't get a space ... i checked and I'm
certainly getting the space ...

here's a terrible terrible hack ... ;) ... it actually works ...

<FONT color="#if($Error)red#else$!{dead}black#end">

where the variable "dead" is not defined (not in the context)...
