Subject Reminder - default build target has changed
Date Wed, 07 Nov 2001 13:31:19 GMT

As a reminder to everyone -

The build.xml in the current CVS, 1.3-dev, has been modified such that the
normal 'jar' target (the default) produces a velocity.jar that doesn't have
all the necessary support for default file logging or configuration.

So if you have a working system and update it with the latest CVS that you
build the usual way :

$ ant jar

Then you might be in for a surprise depending on your classpath.

So either

1) be lazy, like me, and use the included 'jar-dep' target that builds a
'complete' jar with logkit and commons-collections included or

2) put the logkit and commons-collections jars in your classpath.

The 2nd way is neater and if you are using either of those two packages (or
ORO, for that matter) in your application/webapp, then you won't get into
the trouble that using the jar-dep will.

The developers guide has inforamtion on where these packages can be found if
you want to get them from the original source.

You're going to end up getting pissed at your software
anyway, so you might as well not pay for it. Try Open Source.
