Subject [jira] Commented: (MUSE-221) Add support for xsd:binaryBase64 parameters and return values in WSDL and Axis2
Date Tue, 17 Apr 2007 11:57:15 GMT

Alberto Rodriguez Galdo commented on MUSE-221:

Good work, Dan, now we have byte support in Apache Muse, but what we need is full base64Binary
support as defined in ... to allow our web
service clients to send binary base64 encoded Data to one of our custom capabilities.

What we want (as Axis2 does) is to have a byte[] interface to xsd:base64Binary attributes
in Java, we only want Apache Muse to serialize byte[] to base64 and base64 to byte[] when
it is needed because the definition of the message in the WSDL states it that way (base64Binary).

We will develop a patch to add support (given apache commons codec library to do the coding/decoding
phase) but we need some architectural hints because how Apache muse chooses the correct serializer
for a given attribute is using it's associated class and base64 is just a String for the VM,
then we will need to have a mechanism to know when we are working with a base64 attribute
or not.

Any thoughts about this?

> When xsd:binaryBase64 is used a message in WSDL description, wsdl2java doesn't generates
the proper mapping, it simply uses org.w3c.dom.Element as when a unknown type is used or xsd:anyType
is used.

binary data.
