 Try changing the "$(RANLIB) $@" line in src/ap/Makefile.tmpl to
 "-$(RANLIB) $@".  You will need to rerun Configure after that.
 
 If that fails, you will have to add a bogus symbol or function to
 src/ap/ap_signal.c to stop your ranlib from complaining.
