Subject Re: mod_mime/7531: Apache lacks OSType <-> mime magic

Strobe, this appears to be a very good idea. Please move discussion over
to the new-httpd@apache.org list (email new-httpd-subscribe@apache.org),
since bugs isn't the best forum for longer discussions.

Feel free to lead off with a patch. And note that Apache 2.0 allows
additional platform information (such as vnode) to be cached in the
apr_fileinfo_t record. This means that any stat/getfileinfo-style apr
call can collect it, and another platform could reparse it. This is
particularly valuable if we later choose to do a 'fastopen' of the
file to serve based on vnode, and is also useful for your quandry.
An 'extra' stat to retrieve the vnode would incur performance pain.
