I have also tried to configure the 'old-style' analysis as documented
at [3] and [4]. Getting the changed issues reported on the console
works but the connection to GitHub does not.

The documentation at [3] states that a requirement is for the SonarQube
GitHub plugin to be installed on the server. Is that the case?
