Subject OutofMemory when using PNG on Solaris 10
Date Thu, 05 Jun 2008 11:12:07 GMT

we have been using FOP 0.95b for rending Documents that include a png on a
Solaris 10 machine (java
 1.5.0_15-b04 if you really want to know)

the include tag looks really straight forward

 <fo:external-graphic width="195mm" content-width="scale-to-fit"
src="duh.png" />

but after a few cycles (lots of documents are rendered with the same png and
the same renderingfile)
the javamachine runs out of memory. after profiling it i could see that
after each iteration a massive amout of memery was allocted. When calling
the gc manually it did free most of the memory but not all. So at some point
the application runs into a outofmemory exception.

When changing the graphic to jpeg everything runs correct.

 <fo:external-graphic width="195mm" content-width="scale-to-fit"
src="duh.jpg" />

also the problem does not occure on a windows or a mac machine so it looks
like a bug realated to solaris. any ideas?

thanks a lot

best regards,
