Subject Re: Using/Embedding fonts with FOP
Date Mon, 11 Jan 2010 15:13:59 GMT
hey all,
So still having problems making other fonts work ... Getting warning
trying to use normal Arial Black:
WARNING: Font "Arial Black,normal,400" not found. Substituting with
"any,normal,400".

I tried doing something like this:

I tried creating font metric files with fonts Im using like Arial
Black (even though i thought they should auto-detect with new FOP
trunk):
java -cp build\fop.jar;lib\avalon-framework-4.2.0.jar;lib\commons-logging-1.0.4.jar;lib\commons-io-1.3.1.jar;lib\xmlgraphics-commons-1.4svn.jar
org.apache.fop.fonts.apps.TTFReader C:\dev\fop\config\fonts\ariblk.ttf
C:\dev\fop\config\font-metric-files\arial_black_ttf.xml

and then using them with the config file passed in with -c command
line parameter

The config file looks like:

<fop version="1.0">
  <source-resolution>72</source-resolution>
  <target-resolution>72</target-resolution>
  <default-page-settings height="11in" width="8.26in"/>
  <!-- use later once get fonts working,
<font-base>file://C:/dev/fop/config/</font-base> -->
  <renderer mime="application/pdf">
    <fonts>
        <font
        metrics-url="file://C:/dev/fop/config/font-metric-files/arial_black_ttf.xml"
        embed-url="file://C:/dev/fop/config/fonts/ariblk.ttf"
        kerning="yes">
          <font-triplet name="Arial Black" style="normal" weight="normal"/>
        </font>

<!--
thought this would automatically work, but doesn't so trying to use
font-metric files
<directory recursive="true">file://C:/dev/fop/config/fonts</directory>
-->

<!--automatically detect operating system installed fonts... thought
this should work for Arial Black since its OS font, but doesnt, hence
y attempting font-metric file for it to work -->
      <auto-detect/>

    </fonts>
  </renderer>
</fop>

Thanks for any ideas,
Ari
