For the JMX call, that would be the size of an entire partition (so thrift row), yes. But
while I can buy that there is situation where a partition would grow bigger than you expected
and you want to check it, it feels a lot less useful to me for a cell in general (because
a cell don't "grow" in size, it's the size of the data you inserted).

That being said, if we talking of CQL column values, it's probably not too hard to add a sizeof
method that would return the size of a value instead of the value itself (not talking of doing
any aggregation here). Not convinced it would be "extremely" useful but it's not particularly
crazy either.
