Subject [ANNOUNCE] Apache HBase "stable" release line is now 2.2.3+
Date Mon, 27 Jan 2020 22:36:54 GMT
Hi Community!

The Apache HBase developers would like you to know that we have updated the
"stable" release pointer to the 2.2.3 release. As future 2.2.z releases are
made the stable pointer will track them. All users of releases prior to
2.2.3 are advised to upgrade to the new stable release line.

The prior stable release line was 1.4.z. Since this change marks a move
across a major HBase version, users still on HBase 1.y can use the new
"stable-1" release pointer to track the community's best guess on a
non-disruptive upgrade choice that is likely to receive updated releases.
Approximately monthly releases are expected for the "stable-1" pointer for
the next 6 months. Be advised that it is likely the "stable-1" pointer will
track new minor releases of HBase 1 rather than maintenance releases of
HBase 1.4.

If you are currently a user of a release line older than 2.2 and there's
anything that would make your transition to the stable release line easier,
please let us know either via the mailing list or JIRAs.
