Fully agree, TypeScript is the way to go.

I would not call it a "full rewrite", because TypeScript is a superset of
JavaScript.

1. Converting to TypeScript mostly means adding type annotations and
tweaking the code, not rewriting it from scratch
2. The conversion can be gradual
