after compaction is less than the size before compaction.
Oh, that's too much overhead for this specific issue (I can't see how the size of the repo
is relevant here). You can augment an existing offline compaction test and simply focus on
checking the journal is not getting corrupted (ie. start with CompactionAndCleanupIT#offlineCompaction).
