Actually my HADOOP_CLASSPATH has already been set to include
/etc/hadoop/conf/*

export
HADOOP_CLASSPATH=/etc/hbase/conf/hbase-site.xml:/usr/lib/hbase/lib/hbase-protocol.jar:$(hbase
classpath)
