Subject [jira] [Commented] (SQOOP-2333) Sqoop to support Custom options for User Defined Plugins(Tool)
Date Wed, 29 Jul 2015 07:03:04 GMT

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SQOOP-2333?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14645585#comment-14645585

Rakesh Sharma commented on SQOOP-2333:

[~jarcec], The support for Tool infrastructure is already there. We have not made any changes
for that . There are lot of people who are already using it. Within Expedia , we came across
a couple of teams who are using this feature of Sqoop. Even though this feature was already
there , there was no documentation around this. Hence we just added a section for that in
developer guide.

Our team was exploring this feature of Sqoop. We had a requirement that we have our own parameters
for the tool. We found that Sqoop supports developing our own tools and register with Sqoop(found
out this from the sqoop-site.xml), but unfortunately Sqoop doesn't support these tools to
have their own options. The issue(SQOOP-2333) is just about providing support for users defined
tools to have their own options. The change we have done is very small.

We have just added a "member variable of type map to SqoopOptions" which gives flexibility
to add custom options for user defined tools.

I will start a discussion on dev mailing list for the same and if required we can have a
meeting also for the same with important stake holders.

> Sqoop currently does not provide any mechanism to define custom switches for the user
